Big Freeze Continues

0 Garstang - Ashton under Lyne 0

All games were postponed at the weekend.  Article as sent to The Courier below:

“Garstang Rugby Club suffered another blank weekend as all the games were, unsurprisingly, postponed due to the frozen conditions.  The recent postponements give the club a real headache as they face a chronic fixture backlog with so many fixtures having been postponed already this season.  Worst hit of all the teams are the 1st XV who did not play any games in November due to wet conditions and have now not played since 12th December due the the snow and frost.  Most of the outstanding games have been rearranged and will be played on the following dates:  6th February - Littleborough (H), 27th February - Old Bedians (H), 3rd April - Birchfield (A), 17th April - Bolton (A), TBC - Ashton-under-Lyne (H).

On a positive note the club have been able to continue training throughout this freezing spell.  While most clubs have been unable to do anything due to the pitch conditions Garstang have been training indoors at Myerscough Equestrian Centre.  Training takes place there each Tuesday and Thursday throughout the Winter and it is at times like this that the facility proves it's worth.

With a slightly warner out look forecast the club are hopeful that they will get some rugby on Saturday 16th January.  The 1st XV are away at Hawcoat Park, the Blues are at home to Carnforth 2nds and the Lions are away against Chorley 2nds.  All games are scheduled to kick off at 14:15.

If anybody would like to join the club training takes place each Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 pm.  For further information please email joinus@garstangrugby.com or visit www.garstangrugby.com
