Under-11s Gain Big Win Over Chorley

Following the tag teams on to a very difficult wet and muddy surface Garstang and Chorley contact teams faced not only each other but cold, showery conditions as well.

They did not disappoint their supporters and the scoring pattern reflected the deteriorating conditions as the ball became more difficult to handle as time went by.

Garstang opened the scoring with fine tries from Ian Makeinson and Kieren Davies 10-0.

Chorley replied following strong play by their forwards 10-5.

When the ball was passed quickly along the Garstang backline Charlie Kenworthy on the wing was able to show his pace just failing to reach the try line after being bundled into touch by some good Chorley defensive play.

It was at this juncture that Garstang took firm control of the game and added two more tries the first by Joshua Christian (converted by Elliot Davies-Taylor) the second one being converted by Kieren Davies 24-5.

In the second half both teams tried valiantly to play open, running rugby but were on several occasions thwarted by the conditions.  During this half only on more score was added this by the Garstang team with Sam Rawsthorne bouncing the conversion off the crossbar much the amusement of the crowd 31-5.

Team: Max Russel (capt), Elliot Davies-Taylor, Kieran Davies, George Dunne, Edward Johnston, Daniel Francey, Joshua Christian, Sam Rawsthorne, Charlie Kenworthy.
