Garstang Junior Rugby Club
Mini's News
After a very successful first season for the juniors at Garstang Rugby Union Football Club we are hoping to grow and
improve this section of the club.
As most secondary schools in the area are already involved in rugby we are currently inviting key stage 2 (ages 7-10)
children to come along and learn all about this sport. Our aim is to introduce the basic skills required for rugby, and
also the respect and discipline which is a large part of the game. The emphasis is on development of skills and not
competitions, although some competitive games will be arranged as necessary. Initially, the children will all train
together but may be split into different age groups later on as different levels of contact are permitted for the older children.
Girls can also play up to under-13 level alongside the boys. There are fully trained coaches, who along with the helpers,
are CRB cleared by the RFU.
Sessions will be held at Hudson Park, Garstang, which is part of the Sports and Social Club, every Sunday morning from
09:30 until 10:30 starting on 3rd September 2006 with a registration day in the Social Club, followed by the first training
session on 10th September 2006.
One difference between rugby and other sports is that there is a place for everybody on the rugby pitch, so if you think
your child will be interested in attending the coaching sessions or require further information contact Ian Davies on 01995 603329,
email joinus@garstangrugbyclub.com, or just come down on Sunday mornings.
Membership is £10 for a player or beginner to join with nothing else to pay during the season.
